Your right Charlie the drive is 13 teeth and the rotor is 26 teeth. 2:1 reduction.

The part in the diagram looks like a proper rotor arm and will just fit straight on to the main drive, where on this mag it is a round cog type rotor and this is where I can’t figure out how to fix the rotor back so the timing is true.

if I could find any witness arrows or mark to line up with the main drive, I don’t know if I am explaining this…[Read more]

Yea Charlie, it is the A1483HZ but my problem starts with him taking the rotor arm out without making a note of where it should syncronise to. There is no mark on the rotor although there is a witness arrow on the small drive shaft, opposite the keyway. The rotor has been damaged in the past but it did work until he decided to leave it out in the…[Read more]

Has anyone, or can anyone direct me to any manuals on a Wipac magneto fitted on the Gem 810cc twin. my neighbor has taken his apart to clean and dry it but has taken out the distributor cog.
I just need some guidance on how to re-fit. The drive cog has a witness arrow but the rotor cog has no marks.
    Any ideas.

Hi All long time no see or post, my next door neighbour has a Gem twin and left it outside in the elements for sometime. He now wonders why it won’t start, I told him that the electrics will probably be wet and need some attention also it has an Amal carb and they don’t like rain and fill up with water.
He has since taken the electrics apart…[Read more]

philsomers replied to the topic V1 C Villiers engine on an Allen in the forum Help and information 4 years, 10 months ago

Hi Andy, The weight was on the outside of the flywheel, when I first saw it I thought it was the cover to allow access to the points. It had a spring that was pushing on a screw that seemed to serve no purpose.
The running of the machine is a mystery. The machine runs like on tick over and the speed improves very little when I open the throttle, I…[Read more]

I am having a little problem with my Allen, just got it out of storage and didn’t start so I stripped the mag and cleaned the points. Good spark but will not rev with any gusto.
It is the first time I have had this engine down and the only difference I found with this engine was a small counter weight on the outside face of the flywheel, I didn’t…[Read more]

Hi all I thought I would like to put an explanation on line before I put my Auto Culto on the dreaded bay and explain why I have listed it at the price it is at.
I have lately had a lot of health problems and my wife has decided that downsizing has to happen. I have two machines that I have spent a fortune on buying and sourcing extinct bits, the…[Read more]

By all means use it, I just want everyone to know how serious getting a shock through the body off and engine is. I don’t just mean the odd jolt of the spark plug but if you have a shock like mine and you cramp up like I did, get to hospital ASAP.

I am posting this just in case any of you out there don’t know how serious an electrical shock from spark plug really is, I didn’t.
On Saturday a was fixing a Villiers engine for a friend. I got it running but the engine was racing so I leaned over to reach the carb.
IDIOT I put my hand on the spark plug, that was not the problem as I have had…[Read more]

I’ve got one Andy but I am not that confident yet to cut a thread like that, I am only just getting into outside threads and the nut could do with being hardened although I suppose that wouldn’t matter.

Hi everyone, I am clutching at straws but does anyone know where I can buy a 3/4″ LH thread Whitworth nut.
I have a beautiful surface grinder but someone has nicked the grinding wheel retainer.

Do I just smack the Woodruff Key out to remove the wheels and if so has anyone got any quick fix tips (like big hammer but where do I smack it)?

I know that I can down load it but is it possible that someone could check for me on the mailing list, I have not received the last two editions.

I know it’s a long way to Wigan from down south but the postman still knows where I live.

    I miss it 🙁

Does anyone know if there is a rotary brush that would fit a Mayfield or an Auto Culto field L. I would like it to brush my block paving once I have killed the moss.

Keep your tyres dark and in a damp place, not wet. A cellar is a good place or somewhere similar.

No problem Charlie, it’s just not quite the same as sitting in the conservatory with your feet up reading the hard copy. 🙂

Hi Charlie, I haven’t got mine yet Charlie but I did have problem with my last copy I had to shout out, I think it’s because they don’t know where Lancashire is, or how to spell it.
