Its that time of the year again when we start thinking about the Weeley
working weekend. This year it is 14th and15th September. The theme for this
year is anything Trusty, but all other machines are welcome. The weekend
is for all club members only. I mardled down to Weeley this morning and had
a chat with Dave and Chris the landowners and had a ride round the farm.
The camping field looks good and the working field is nice and clear and ready
for us to go and have a play. The toilets are ordered, the barby is booked.
Bring your own food we will supply the fire. On the Saturday we will have
a small ploughing match in the morning and in the afternoon we will be
having the ladies furrow drawing contest. Saturday evening the barby and
ploughing/ furrow drawing prizegiving and on the Sunday we will be holding
the Weeley ramble, or tractor run round the farm tracks. (edited by admin)
Any problems give me a landline on 01376 340072. See you all there.
    Dave.

    Hi Dave,
Are you able to give any more details of the weekend such as the timings of things for those who haven’t attended before? I am looking at attending (as I need all the help and pointers I can get on actually starting and running my machine and on the fine art of ploughing) and am wondering how early I need to get up on the Saturday morning.

As my MG6 has been sitting in the corner the garage as a non runner for some years, I foolishly have also bought an Iron Horse (which does run) but I have not yet had the courage or the space to see what it can do ploughing wise.
    Thanks,
    Simon

    Simon.
I am not a good ploughman but there will be members there who can point you
    in the right direction.
The address is published in The Cultivator magazine which is sent to all paid up club members. (edited by admin) It will be well worth getting up
    on Saturday morning.
    Dave.

Yesterday the 29th I went to Weeley to check the field and have a chat
with Dave and Chris Weeley. The Field looks in good condition and is
fairly weed free so we should have a good playpen/ploughing area.
There are lots of new additions to the sheep and also some very
friendly goats for the youngsters to pet. watch the goats as they
will try to sample your clothing.
Because of the livestock ALL dogs will be kept on leads at all times.
I look forward to seeing you all there. Any problems please ring
    me on 01376 340072.

I’ve been out with the Trusty Road Roller already to make sure that it’s ready for the road run. It’s now running cleaner with a genuine replacement throttle linkage and I’ve been doing a bit of research on it’s history, with a few surprises being turned up, but I’ll fill you in on those when I get there.

    Looking forward to it already!

I have done a very quick ‘restoration’, (new tyres, load bed and serviced brakes) on a Barford Atom trailer which I will be bringing along with a couple of other machines.

I went to Weeley yesterday in the rain. The field/playpen
needed a good watering so it should be in good condition
for the weekend. The weather forecast is good, set fair
for the weekend so we will all have a good time. I look
forward to seeing you all on Saturday.

A great weekend with excellent weather and a wonderful social atmosphere- everything that being part of a club is about. I can’t thank everyone concerned enough for the hard work in organising it so that it went off without a hitch, and even more thanks are due to Dave Weeley and his family for putting up with us for two days and letting us make a thorough mess of his one field!

A few photo’s of the weekend- feel free to post more if you’ve got them.
