I was given a vintage Interlube Plymouth Lever action grease gun by my father in law. for a couple of small jobs a managed to get some grease from a tin into it but I can’t work out how to fill it properly. Every lever action gun I can find on the net has some form of plunger in the end cap, mine is a plain one and inside the chamber is a plastic (bakerlite?) cup thing (don’t know what it is called) with a hole which has a chain attached and ring at the end to pull it out. I pushed the grease in and pushed the cup down and presumed the vacuum from the lever would draw the cup and keep grease moving to the pipe. I ended up putting a piece of pipe down the chamber and pushing it as I pumped.
Any ideas how I can fill it properly?
Images will help, but when you pull the chain, are you pulling against spring pressure ?
Sounds to be a similar set up to my Wanners. Cold and dark out there now but I’ll take an image or two tomorrow.
