    Hi

I thought it would be interesting to record my progress on the repair of my main strimmer that I use most of the time. It’s eitber from ‘91, ‘92 or ‘93, whether you believe the handle, the head or spool cover!

I obtained it from a skip at an animal sanctuary a couple years ago and all I have done is fitted a new detachable cable connector. As of last use, I noticed that the motor doesn’t spin up as fast as it was supposed to, accompanied by a burning smell.

Upon close inspection, the brushes are in good shape, but the stator and armature are extremely rusty and in real need of an overhaul and a good brush down. I will clean tbe commutator as I am at it as well.

I also gave the plastic parts and inner wiring a clean and wipe down.

Pics of the motor to come.

As promised, here’s the motor, dissassembled.
The brushholder bracket is branded “ELLETROMOTORI CARAMELLA, ITALIA” which I presume is the motor manufacturer. I can’t find much info regarding them.
