Is there any member that could either post or email a photo of where the govenor spring attaches,I took mine off to clean the carb and for the life of me I cannot see where it could attach to the govenor arm,I have a 3hp briggs but the spring configuration is different so it has to be a 5hp.Thanks in advance.

Give us clue! Is your lump a vertical or horizontal crank ? Even better how about Model, Type and Code numbers, or even an image or two.

I’ve got the same lump even down to the year on a Merrytiller, unfortunately it’s buried at the back of the shed but I hope that this helps.

Suggest that you post an image of what you have. Meanwhile I’ll see if I can dig out my machine and get a pic.

Thanks but I paid a visit to my local mower repairer and he had one on an old rotovator so I am sorted now thanks for your help.
