Hi recently purchased a Kohler engined Mayfield, the gearbox won’t shift at all, when you try it shows movement on the main shaft horizontally, are they fairly simple to rebuild or adjust?

The Albion gearbox is a very compact design, they can be dismantled and rebuilt but I would not recommend it without a manual. Do you know which model of gearbox it is? I do have some manuals.

When you strip off the clutch fittings you will see that the toothed wheels are seperated with cork discs, often they are rusted together, soaking them in “Brick Acid” overnight will clean them up, before you tackle the gear box internals.

if you disconnect the cable watch that you don’t lose the ball bearing at the end of the compression shaft when the lever flips round.
