Hello all, I’m hoping someone can help me, I have just purchased a Merry Tiller Sparten Rotovator, When I got it it had no drive belt so I bought the right belt from Merry tiller but it doesn’t matter where i adjust the idler/drive wheel to I cant get it to adjust properly, If I slack the adjusters right off the front pulley just wears the belt away any tighter the rotors drive all the time !!!

Any help would be much appricated

    Many thanks, Frosty

has the machine still got it,s belt guide at the front pulley
so when you let go the clutch the belt sits off the pulley.

The part number for the original TOOTHED forward drive belt on a 5hp Spartan is W25496 (or EC.1352.A1).Its the same belt just under a different superceded part number.Im presuming yours still has its original Briggs and Stratton IC 5HP engine fitted and also the correct pulley ?.Note there should be a plastic cooling fan fitted on the end of the crankshaft next to the pulley to keep the belt cool and prevent shrinkage.
