Hi All, Well to add to my ever expanding collection I have acquired a Clifford Cultivator Mk Iv the only problem is It has no engine or fuel tank. None of the levered etc are connected to anything wither so that will take some working out, but for now i need an engine and fuel tank. Does anybody know what engine it should have and where i might find one?

    Thank you.

    Gav

According to my Clifford handbook you should have either a 500cc BSA
or 600cc JAP engine on your mk4 Clifford. The JAP engine is a 600cc
mark 111 direct starting type 8 petrol engine. If you can find
an engine I have a JAP handbook which I can scan in and send on to
you. I also have the Clifford handbook if needed. Give me a call.

Further to my epistle this afternoon the Clifford mk4 could also
have a Sachs Diesel 500 engine fitted.

The BSA engine would be an M20, keep your eyes peeled around the autojumbles. It has a dry sump like the Jap and uses a separate oil tank. An M21 (600cc) one will do as well….

Thank you very much for your replies. I think I better find my nearest auto jumble.

I have a howard gem with a 600cc JAP engine, is that the same engine as the JAP 600?

I think an original fuel tank might just be my biggest problem.

A JAP engine for your machine has just turned up on the auction site.

    Andy.
